Plantaform is joining forces with Agriculture in the Classroom Canada (AITC-C) for an exciting educational initiative this winter: Mission Explorium! This one-of-a-kind program is designed to engage Grade 6 to 8 students across Canada in a thrilling adventure that combines learning, creativity, and real-world problem-solving.
What is Mission Explorium?
Launching this February, Mission Explorium takes students on an imaginative journey to a fictional deserted island. Guided by a quirky anthropologist and a duo of clever birds, students collaborate to explore ecosystems, agriculture, food systems, and cultural dynamics. Their mission? To design a sustainable society while navigating engaging challenges.
The program features:
- Interactive Videos: Immersive storytelling that captivates and educates.
- Hands-On Activities: Opportunities for students to dive into topics like food production, sustainability, and ecosystems.
- Leaderboards: A fun way to foster friendly competition and teamwork.
Designed to align with Canadian curriculum standards, Mission Explorium makes learning both fun and impactful. It’s an adventure that sparks critical thinking, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of agriculture and sustainability.
Compete for the Grand Prize: A Plantaform Indoor Garden!
The excitement doesn’t stop there. At the heart of this program is a national competition where students tackle real-world challenges. Ten regional winners will advance to the grand finale in April, competing to be crowned the 2024 National Champion.
The winning classroom will receive a Plantaform Indoor Garden, a revolutionary system that grows fresh greens year-round using fog technology. This state-of-the-art garden not only enhances access to fresh produce but also introduces students to the intersection of STEM, agriculture, and food systems. It’s a hands-on way to teach the next generation about sustainable practices while fostering a connection to the food they eat.
